Win Sarah Lacy’s Book!

Sarah Lacy\'s Book

Well, I wrote about this book 2 times (in my posts Tough Chick - Sarah Lacy and Once You’re Lucky, Twice You’re Good) and tweeted about it multiple times. I guess the title of Sarah Lacy’s book, Once You’re Lucky, Twice You’re Good is obviously right on! I was approached yesterday about featuring a book giveaway on my blog for this book - given how much I liked the book, how could I pass it up?

The teaser for the book on Sarah’s website states:

“Business reporter Sarah Lacy chronicles the lives of several different people trying to get their dreams off the ground. Max Levchin, the savvy founder of PayPal, looks for another hit with a “web widget” company. Kevin Rose tries to grow his “social news” site Digg.com while ! playing the part of Web 2.0 poster boy. Marc Andreesen, the legendary founder of Netscape, comes back to the game seeking to found his third billion-dollar company. Mark Zuckerberg watches Facebook grow from his dorm room at Harvard into one of the most powerful sites on the Web as he tries to avoid the spotlight. While following these entrepreneurs, Lacy brings to light the entire Web 2.0 scene: the wide-eyed but wary founders of startups, the hated venture capitalists, the bloggers fueling the hype, the programmers coding through the night on Red Bull and takeout, the twenty-something millionaires, and the internet “fan boys” eager for all the promises to come true.”

I honestly LOVED this book and it made me feel as if I actually knew many of the founders of some of the top names in the tech world right now. As I said in my 2nd post about this book, it was a fast and intriguing read that brought me deep into the world of Silicon Valley startups. Any tech junkie will love the book for its inside look at the tech scene and more about the entrepreneurs who brought us our favorite new online toys.

Kate,

Take a look at my delicious Wordle (http://donkasprzak.com/2008/06/17/you-are-what-you-tag/) to see its full of Web2.0 tags…and would be a great read to further my understanding of Web2.0 in the new internet.

Does the competition reach as far as Australia? I’m an advocate for Web2.0 applications and continually hitting brick walls when I try to introduce fantastic new tools in my classroom. Reading about the adventures of others may provide insights I can build upon to spread the word of freeware - you’d think the word free would be enough wouldn’t you!!

Anyway, good luck to me! LOL

I would love to win this book. As an avid reader and tech 2.0 geek (thought about calling my second grade class, Harju 2.0 from now on)it would teach me so much about tech and the people that made it so amazing. I am fascinated by all things technology and would love to have more info to share with my colleagues.
