Ok, couldn’t resist this one. Just read this in my local paper over the weekend and then my friend just emailed it to me as well. Laura, thanks for the reminder!

This is such a classic “digital mistake” and is the type that will probably never die…….which is good for my entertainment, but not so good if it happens to ME!

[Local superintendent - read article for more] referred to three ex-board members as “contentious” in a personal e-mail sent from her school account that was also accidentally transmitted to others.

The e-mail, sent last week to a former co-worker, referred to [local board members], all who were replaced on the school board last April.

“I had three board members who were contentious leave the board, hurrah, and I have three kind wonderful new board members!” wrote Burns in the e-mail.

Yup, the email went to the ENTIRE school board, that’s right. Yes, she apologized, but the damage was done.

Sigh.

I read that. To be honest, I didn’t think it was _that_ bad. I mean it’s not like she said “Thank god those 3 ^#@(*^ are finally gone!” LOL! Still, I bet she will be more careful before hitting that send button in the future.

Ha! This is actually my worst fear. In my last job I often had to send e-mails out company wide (300+) employees. I was always so paranoid I’d accidentally send something private to EVERYONE that I would check and re-check my To: field.
